Kenochoric

Kenochoric Flag
Image Unavailable
Flag Meaning: ―Black: Void, absence, emptiness, and darkness
―Dark purple: Disconnect with gender, obscurity and a difficulty to properly define itself
―Purple: Vast concepts and places, such as oceans and deep space.
―Light purple: Liminal spaces, transitional spaces, the “boundary” between what was and what is.

Name(s) and Definition(s)

Kenochoric is an umbrella term defined as "Kenochoric is an umbrella term centered around the idea of kenopsia. It is a relatively broad label, and many different types of genders, such as xenogenders, aesthetigenders, neurogenders, and others, may fit under it. Generally, however, kenochoric is its own, seperate thing, not just a subset of xenogender.

While kenochoric is an umbrella term, it can be used as a gender on it’s own. It can be used alongside other terms, and it could have an alignment of it’s own, with genders like kenomasc, kenofem, and kenofluid.

Kenochoric can be an alignment as well. It may be called kenic (similar to xenic), or voidrian if you want to use a galactian alignment specifically. There is also KEIN, which means kenochoric in nature.

Kenochoric may also be used as a modifier, if someone’s gender identity feels as though it is kenochoric. For instance, someone may be a demiboy, but they also have various traits of kenochoric identity, despite demiboy not being under the umbrella. They could then call themselves a kenochoric demiboy, or a kenic demiboy.1 […]
Kenochoric and it’s related genders can be described with one, some, or all of the following:
―A connection to things like liminal spaces, voids, darkness, vast concepts (ocean, space, etc.), distortion, or similar.
―A lonely, empty, eerie, or melancholy feeling.
―Some kind of disconnect from gender. This can mean genderlessness, an empty or absent feeling, gender apathy, a distortion of one’s gender, or just a general disconnect.
―An unstable, hard to define, hard to name, or generally “unstable” relationship with gender.
―A strange, nostalgic, foggy, wistful, etc. feeling.
―A sense that one’s gender is not human, or that it is unable to be defined with human definitions (or any definitions).
Whether these things are tied back to one’s neurodivergence can also make kenochoric a neurogender."2

It was redefined as "a gender that is centered around the idea of kenopsia. It is usually, but not always, a xenogender, and an aesthetigender. Depending on the person it may also be a neurogender. It is an umbrella term, with a similar, non-umbrella variant being neagender. Despite this, kenochoric can be used entirely on it's own as well. It can generally be classified with the following:

  • A connection to one, some, or all of the following: liminal spaces, the void, darkness, vast concepts (deep space, deep ocean, etc.), distortion, emptiness, and/or similar.
  • A disconnect from gender in some way, or a distinct "empty" or "absent" feeling. This does not have to mean genderlessness, but might mean a distortion of, or just general disconnect with, gender identity.
  • Their relationship with gender may be hard to define, fades in and out, or is otherwise "unstable."
  • Their relationship with gender may feel eerie, strange, nostalgic, and/or foggy.

Whether these things are tied back to one's neurodivergence can also make kenochoric a neurogender."3

It was redefined again as "a gender that is centered around the idea of kenopsia. It is usually, but not always, a xenogender and an aesthetigender. Depending on the person, it may also be a neurogender. Kenochoric is an umbrella term, but may be used as a gender on it's own as well.

Whether these things are tied back to one's neurodivergence can also make kenochoric a neurogender."4

It was redefined a third time as "a gender that is centered around the idea of kenopsia. It is usually, but not always, a xenogender and an aesthetigender. Depending on the person, it may also be a neurogender. Kenochoric is an umbrella term, but may be used as a gender on it's own as well. It can generally be classified with the following:

  • A connection to one, some, or all of the following: liminal spaces, the void, darkness, vast concepts (deep space, deep ocean, etc.), distortion, emptiness, and/or similar.
  • The term or feeling of kenopsia itself, loneliness, or autophobia.

Whether these things are tied back to one's neurodivergence can also make kenochoric a neurogender."5

It was redefined a fourth time as "a gender that is centered around the idea of kenopsia: the eerie atmosphere of a place that's has been abandoned. It is usually, but not always, a xenogender and an aesthetigender. Depending on the person, it may also be a neurogender. Kenochoric is an umbrella term, but may be used as a gender on it's own as well. It can generally be classified with the following:

  • A gender with a connection to one, some, or all of the following: liminal spaces, the void, darkness, vast concepts (deep space, deep ocean, etc.), distortion, emptiness, and/or similar.
  • A feeling of kenopsia, loneliness, or autophobia without one's gender.
  • A disconnect from gender in some way, or a distinct "empty" or "absent" feeling. This does not have to mean genderlessness, but might mean a distortion of, or just general disconnect with, gender identity.
  • One's relationship with gender may be hard to define, fades in and out, or is otherwise "unstable."
  • One's relationship with gender may feel eerie, strange, nostalgic, and/or foggy.

Whether these things are tied back to one's neurodivergence can also make kenochoric a neurogender."6

It was redefined a fifth time as "a gender that is centered around the idea of kenopsia: the eerie atmosphere of a place that's has been abandoned. It is usually, but not always, a xenogender and an aesthetigender. Depending on the person, it may also be a neurogender. Kenochoric is an umbrella term, but may be used as a gender on it's own as well, and may be used alongside other terms, such as kenomasc, kenofem, kenofluid, and so on.

  • One's relationship with gender may feel eerie, strange, nostalgic, and/or foggy.

Whether these things are tied back to one's neurodivergence can also make kenochoric a neurogender."7

It was redefined a sixth time as "an umbrella term that is centered around the idea of kenopsia: the eerie atmosphere of a place that's has been abandoned. It can also be used as a gender of it's own. It is not inherently a part of any other gender label, but for some, it may be considered a xenogender, a neurogender, and/or an aesthetigender. Kenochoric itself may be aligned, with examples being kenomasc, kenofem, kenofluid, and so on.
It can generally be classified with the following:

  • A gender with a connection to one, some, or all of the following: liminal spaces, the void, darkness, vast concepts (deep space, deep ocean, etc.), distortion, emptiness, and/or similar.
  • A feeling of kenopsia, loneliness, or autophobia.
  • One's relationship with gender may feel eerie, strange, nostalgic, and/or foggy."8

It was redefined the seventh time as "an umbrella term that is centered around the idea of kenopsia: the eerie atmosphere of a place that's has been abandoned. It can also be used as a gender of it's own. It is not inherently a part of any other gender label (with some not even identifying as nonbinary), but for some, it may be considered a xenogender, a neurogender, and/or an aesthetigender. Kenochoric itself may be aligned, with examples being kenomasc, kenofem, kenofluid, and so on.
It can generally be classified with the following:

  • A feeling of kenopsia, loneliness, or autophobia.

  • One's relationship with gender may be hard to define, fades in and out, or is otherwise "unstable."
  • One's relationship with gender may feel eerie, strange, nostalgic, and/or foggy."9

It was redefined an eighth time as "an umbrella term that is centered around the idea of kenopsia: the eerie atmosphere of a place that's has been abandoned. It is a broad label with many different variations and traits, ranging from eerie, lonely, and vast, to unstable, genderless, and nostalgic, among other things. It may be considered a gender of its own, or be used as a modifier.
Kenochoric is not inherently a part of any other gender label (with some not even identifying as nonbinary), but for some, it may be considered a xenogender, a neurogender, and/or an aesthetigender. Kenochoric itself may be aligned as well, with examples being kenomasc, kenofem, and kenofluid, as well as kenovir, kenoera, and kenoavire.
Kenochoric can generally be classified with the following traits:

  • A connection to things like liminal spaces, voids, darkness, vast concepts (ocean, space, etc.), distortion, or similar.
  • A lonely, empty, eerie, or melancholy feeling.
  • Some kind of disconnect from gender. This can mean genderlessness, an empty or absent feeling, gender apathy, a distortion of one's gender, or just a general disconnect.
  • An unstable, hard to define, hard to name, or generally "unstable" relationship with gender.
  • A strange, nostalgic, foggy, wistful, etc. feeling.
  • A sense that one's gender is not human, or that it is unable to be defined with human definitions (or any definitions).

In depth explanations of these definitions can be found on the kenochoric Carrd. The coiner has also stated that it is okay if someone considers themself kenochoric while not perfectly fitting under its definition."10

It was redefined a ninth time as "an umbrella term that is centered around the idea of kenopsia: the eerie atmosphere of a place that's has been abandoned. It is a broad label with many different variations and traits, ranging from eerie, lonely, and vast, to unstable, genderless, and nostalgic, among other things. It may be considered a gender of its own, or be used as a modifier.
Kenochoric is its own, separate category of gender, rather than a subcategory of another one. It is not a subcategory of xenogender, or any other category. While xenogenders, aesthetigenders, etc. may fall under the kenochoric umbrella, kenochoric is its own thing with many variations in experiences. There is no necessary prerequisite or existing label one must meet in order to fall under kenochoric.
The term for kenochoric-in-nature is KEIN, kenochoric quality (similar to feminine, xenine, and masculine) is called kenoine or kenous, and kenochoric alignment is referred to as kenic (or voidrian if one wishes to use the galactian alignments.) A kenochoric gender may still have an alignment that is not/is partially not kenic, e.g., kenomasc, kenofem, kenofluid, kenovir, kenoera, and kenoavire.

Users may identify with just one of these traits, some of these traits, or all of them. The coiner has also stated that it is okay if someone considers themself kenochoric while not perfectly fitting under its definition."11

It was redefined a tenth time as "an umbrella term that is centered around the idea of kenopsia: the eerie atmosphere of a place that's has been abandoned.
