Colorgender(umbrella term)

Name(s) and Definition(s)

Colorgender also known as Colourgender and incorrectly referred to as Color Gender on the Gender Wiki1 is an umbrella term defined as "a gender associated with one or more colors and the feelings, hues, emotions, and/or objects associated with that color."2

It was redefined as "A gender associated with one or more colors and the feelings, hues, emotions, and/or objects associated with that color. Can be used like pinkgender, violetgender, etc."3

It was redefined again as "a gender, or umbrella of genders, associated with one or more colors and the feelings, hues, emotions, and/or objects associated with that color. It is especially useful for synesthesic people. It can be used like pinkgender, violetgender, etc."4

It was redefined a third time as "a gender identity that is associated with one or more colors and the feelings, hues, emotions, and/or objects associated with that color. This term could be categorized by specific color(s), such as pinkgender, violetgender, etc.
if a person has synesthesia this might also qualify neurogender but there has been no official statement by the color gender community to state synesthesia is a requirement. "5

It was redefined a fourth time as "both a distinct gender and umbrella term for genders associated with one or more colors and the feelings, hues, emotions, or objects associated with that color."6

It was redefined a fifth time as "a gender identity that is associated with one or more colors and the feelings, hues, emotions, and/or objects associated with that color. Color gender appears in multiple ways, such as:

  • Being fluid and constantly changing (genderfluid, genderflux, etc.)
  • Having one color gender (pinkgender, yellowgender, etc.)
  • Having more than one (bigender, trigender, etc.)
  • Having more than one color gender and being fluid (bigenderflux, etc.)

If a person has synesthesia this might also qualify neurogender but there has been no official statement by the color gender community to state synesthesia is a requirement, so for now, this gender is open to anyone. "7
