Name(s) and Definition(s)

Catgender is a Faunagender and Neurogender defined as "Catgender is a xenogender that is an umbrella term. Genders that fall under Catgender are Meowgender, Nyagender, Kitten/kittygender. As a xenogender, Catgender is an identity that is used for autistic individuals, as well as people who may experience delusions relating to being a cat/feline and/or experience species regression. while Catgender will be open for anyone to use, it is STRONGLY preferred that neurodivergent individuals identify with it, as xenogenders and autigenderism are genders made by neurodivergent folk, for neurodivergent folk!"1

It was recoined as "Catgender is a xenogender used by individuals who identify as/strongly connect with cats and felines. It is used to describe a gender that feels feline. Catgender individuals can still identify as a binary gender while being catgender. If someone feels female in a feline sense, they would be a catgender girl. Catgender was created by a mentally ill autistic individual to better define nya’s gender experience, but anyone may identify with catgender."2

It was redefined as "a xenogender in which someone feels an extremely strong connection to cats or other felines, either strongly identifying with them or simply wanting to incorporate them into their gender to better understand their identity. It was made with neurodivergent people in mind, specifically autistic individuals, as well as people who may experience delusions relating to being a cat or other feline, or people who experience species regression. However, anyone may identify as catgender.

One who identifies as catgender may refer to themself as a "catboy," "catgirl," "nyan-binary," or simply catgender or another combination, depending on their gender identity."3
